Air Canada. Passenger tried to give Air Canada one last chance but never again.
I just got back from a fantastic 1 week vacation in Halifax. The only
black mark on the whole trip was the decision to fly Air Canada.
Several years ago, I swore I would never fly Air Canada again. I
should have listened to myself.
I decided to give Air Canada a chance after many years of flying other
airlines, and booked them to Halifax.
1st part: Saskatoon to Ottawa. Good flight everything worked service
was great and we left and landed on time.
2nd part: Ottawa to Halifax. First they changed gates on us, and then
when we arrived at the gate at the appointed time, there was no plane,
and no announcement, just a note on the board the flight was delayed.
I looked at the board on and off, and about 2 hours after the original
departure time, it said the flight had left. I went to the gate
attendants and asked them WTF. They then informed me the plane they
were waiting on was grounded in Toronto with mechanical issues. I said
“do you not think you should let people know?”
They then made an announcement to let people know.
We waited another hour and they had a new plane at a new gate for us
to board. We got to the gate and I noticed the plane was smaller than
the scheduled plane. You guessed it my wife and I were not on that
plane when it left, along with 15 others, but we got a $10.00 meal
voucher for our troubles. This was just enough to purchase a muffin
and a drink. Whoop de dooo.
An hour later, the next plane for us was in and ready to be boarded.
We are on our way only 4 hours late.
But wait, this plane had issues. While we sat on the plane for another
hour they did some repair work and waited on permission to leave.
Nothing other than free earphones was offered to us.
Finally made it to Halifax, 5 hours late.
3rd part: Halifax to Toronto. We left ¾ of an hour late because????
You guessed it mechanical issues. While on the plane, there was
several of the seat TV’s did not work including the entire row we
were seated in. The stewardess said several times she would re-set the
system. It never did work.
Made it to Toronto late, but no problem we still had a 4 hour wait
until we could board our flight to Saskatoon.
While in Toronto, we witnessed an Air Canada pull tractor with several
luggage carts behind it go cruising by and 2 bags bounced out. The
driver kept on going until he was flagged down by another worker. He
got out of his tractor and walked back to the bags, and dragged them
back to the carts where he very roughly threw them into the cart. The
one bag was a duffle bag with no wheels. We witnessed an Airbus
scheduled to fly to Montreal, having one of its engines looked at.
This flight left 1 hour late.
4th part: Toronto to Saskatoon: Several gate changes and walking all
over the airport we arrive at our gate just in time to see the next
plane arrive on time.
Thank God we are going to make it home.
But wait it does not end there.
Our crew does not board the plane, but hangs around the gate. WTF.
Then comes the announcement. “We apologize for the delay (20th time
I have heard that) the plane schedule to depart for Saskatoon is now
out of service. We will advise when we know more” Oh great another
delay.
1 ½ hours later we have a new plane the right size, but at another
gate. OMG why oh why did we not fly Westjet?
We board the plane at the new gate and wait.
While sitting on the plane, the pilot made an announcement. “This is
the Captain. The luggage handlers have noticed a crack in a bulkhead,
so we need maintenance to check it out.” Question to myself. ”I
wonder if my will is up to date?”
Once again nothing is offered to us other than water while we wait on
board.
Another 1 ½ we are on our way. Thank God, but will we make it??
We land in Saskatoon 3 hours late.
I hate Air Canada, and this time I will NEVER EVER fly them again.
